“26mm, f/11, 1/125s, ISO 160I have mixed feelings about this one. I like the composition and the light on the beach; I'm less happy with the handling of the sun behind the castle which looks slightly blown and very bright. This also had the most work in terms of editing - the foreground needed the shadows lifted quite a bit and some warmth adding. I've also done a little dodging using a warmer tone on the foremost grasses. The approach on all these images was to slightly tone down the saturation and contrast; I'm aiming for a slighly muted and understated look. Not sure whether I've been successful...”

“70mm, f/8.0, 1/125s, ISO 200 - HandheldTwo fives... I'm not sure this is entirely successful; the die is quite large in the frame and I wanted to capture more of the hut. Unfortuntately (on the big screen) it's a little soft and I would probably have been better using an aperture of f/11 or smaller.Like most of the handheld shots this was taken in manual using Auto-ISO.”

This was taken just after sunrise and the warm light was catching the rocks and the building. The important thing here was to watch the highlights on the lighthouse as it would be very easy to lose detail. As a result I've needed to lift the shadows a fair bit.The feature I like is what looks like a belt of Venus which gives a pinkish hue on the horizon. ”

I didn't want to use the bracketing function as I didn't want to alter the depth of field by changing the apperture, right or wrong I don't know but with my mirrorless camera it's easy to alter the speed and see on the screen which part of the image looks correctly exposed.I took this image as the light on the two boats was bringing out the colours and I just though the two boats of the same style complimented each other.”

“various speeds @f 7.1 10-20mm lens set at 19mm and also 3 points of focus which I'm not sure made any difference, I think using the wide angle and moderate aperture gave me a good depth of field anyway. This is again an HDR combination of three images exposed at different speeds.I was particularly attracted to this boat because of the rope curled around the prow and rising up from the great grass with all it's texture. I think I missed a trick in the composition by not leaving any separation betweent the prow of the boat and the headland going out to the castle. I cropped this square as there was too much sky.”

Again 6 stop and polariser filter attached, tbh the polariser did little to change the scene as the light was virtually head on and polarisers work bes when light is coming across the scene, however it's literally bolted onto my Lee filter adaptor so it's a given if I'm using any filter at all.I left this in colour as I liked the blue hues I could see and the contrast of the multi coloured bouys added to the image imho. What I also noticed was the angle of the pier matched the prow of the boat.”
