Berwick Bridge 400 Photographic Competition

About the Competition

Berwick and District Camera Club is organising a photographic competition in association with Berwick Bridge 400 and Create Berwick to celebrate the 400th Anniversary in 2024 of the Berwick Old Bridge.

The Competition is split into 4 seasons:

  • Autumn - 10th November 2023 - 21st December 2023 (Closing date 21st December 23:59) - NOW CLOSED

  • Winter - 22nd December 2023 - 21st March 2024 (Closing date 22nd March 23:59) - NOW CLOSED

  • Spring - 22nd March 2024 - 21st June 2024 (Closing date 22nd June 23:59) - NOW CLOSED

  • Summer - 22nd June 2024 – 21st August 2024 (Closing date 22nd August 23:59) - NOW CLOSED

Images must be taken within the specified dates and include a clear visual reference to the old bridge.

For each season, a winner and 2 runners-up will be chosen.

When all of the seasons are completed, the winners and runners-up (total of 12) will be exhibited at the 2024 Berwick Camera Club Annual Exhibition, where an overall winner will be chosen by public vote. 

Prizes

For each season there will be a winner and 2 runners-up, each receiving:

  • A Certificate
  • A framed print of the Old Bridge, Berwick-upon-Tweed from Tweedmouth by Susan Hughes
  • Your image will be exhibited at the 2024 Berwick Camara Club Exhibition

The overall winner will receive 50 pounds. 

How to Enter

Entry is via Email only

Email your entry to:  Bridge400photo@gmail.com

Name the JPEG file, maximum file size 5MB, and the Email Subject, as follows: (Sn refers to the season: S1 - Autumn, S2 - Winter, S3 - Spring, S4 - Summer)

  • Sn_your name e.g. S1_John Smith

Don't forget to attach your image to the Email.  

Terms and Conditions

  • Entry is free and open to everyone

  • Entry into the competition is acceptance of the Terms and Conditions

  • Each entrant may enter a maximum of 1 image per competition (1 per season)

  • The image must include a clear visual reference to the Old Bridge

  • Entries must be in digital format only – no prints or slides will be accepted

  • Entries must be JPEG files and best quality available. Maximum file size 5MB (Note: Winners and Runners-up maybe be asked to supply a higher quality image for exhibition purposes)

  • Entries must be free from text and photographer’s watermarks

  • Your details will not be passed on to any third party without your permissions

  • All photographs submitted must be the work of the individual photographer who submits them. Entrants must ensure that photographs have been taken with permission of the subject (where necessary) and do not infringe the copyright of any third party

  • By submitting a photograph to this Competition entrants agree that Berwick Camera Club reserves the right to free reproduction and exhibit of the image in all media to promote the Club and Competition. Photographers will be credited if an image is used. The copyright of the photograph remains with the photographer

  • Digital adjustments are acceptable

  • AI created images are not allowed

  • Judges appointed by Berwick Camera Club will choose the winner and runners-up for each season. The overall winner will be chosen by public vote at the 2024 Berwick Camera Club Exhibition.

  • The organiser’s decision on all matters relating to the Competition is final and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the Competition’s judges and organisation. Due to the high number of entries individual feedback is not possible

  • A list of Prize winners will be available on the Camera Club website

  • All entries are sent at the photographer’s risk. Berwick Camera Club regret that they cannot accept liability for any loss or damage of any images entered in the competition (howsoever caused) nor for any other loss or damage resulting therefrom.

  • The Entrant’s contact email addresses and name data will be stored and added to a mailing list that will solely involve the Competition itself and event activity. (GDPR)
